Restoration on Main Street

Saint Bonifacius, Minnesota · 2025

Two iterations of a porch addition and remodel to a historic building on Main Street. An arcaded porch composed of yellow Chaska brick fronts the street, taking its cues from the existing architecture and building upon it.

Decorative wood bracketing and gable ornamentation, arched louvered shutters, and metal railings are carefully designed to elude any signature; suggesting they could have always been there.

Gas lamps hang at the entry and a ramp along the north side was added for accessibility. The plan carries the sidewalk and the planting as carefully as the building.
