The Atelier of Art & Architecture

An early reverie in pencil on vellum: The proposal of an architecture to express and embody the art it is itself made of. The elevation crowns that arrangement with a dome that blends elements of Saint Paul’s two most famous domes; unifying artistically the spiritual and civic aspirations of the city’s past in the language of its forerunners.
The plan gathers studios, a skylit life drawing room, and two galleries — one permanent, one temporary — around a central entry.
The site plan sits above the elevation on the same sheet, its edges torn, as though the two had been found together rather than drawn together.
